What makes him a good neighbor:
Each year, when his many gladioluses start to bloom, Popowich takes some of them to decorate the sanctuary at St. Brigid Church, where he is a Eucharistic Minister.
He also volunteers as a server at church functions such as the annual spaghetti dinner, and assist serving meals after funerals.
At his home, Popowich tends to a large vegetable garden. He shares produce with friends, neighbors and his family.
Additionally, Popowich is well - known for his political watching.
"His energy, enthusiasm for causes... and knowledge of current events serve as an example for people of all ages in the community," said his neighbor, Liz
